Apple Inc. said it plans to sell Mac computers using processors designed in-house, signaling an end to its 15-year alliance with Intel Corp. The move is the next logical step for a company interested in controlling as many aspects of hardware production as possible. It also follows similar moves on the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. The company now has several generations of in-house designs for these devices, and it has decided to leverage it for its line computers. "When we make bold changes, it's for one simple but powerful reason: so we can make much better products," said Apple CEO Tim Cook during Monday's pre-taped Worldwide Developers Conference keynote. Apple will release the first Mac with Apple silicon at the end of this year, and it expects the transition to take two years. New Intel-powered Macs are still in the pipeline, so Apple isn't moving exclusively to ARM-based Macs just yet. Still, this is a big shift for Apple to move away from Intel-based silicon in Macs. If you've got an Intel-based Mac, don't worry. "Apple will continue to support and release new versions of macOS for Intel-based Macs for years to come," the company confirmed today. Read more -here-
